I am delighted to share that I recently received my diploma from Walden III High School! I am so thankful to all of the faculty, administrators, family, and friends that have guided me through this experience. I was honored to be named Salutatorian of my class and had the opportunity to address my fellow graduates at the ceremony. This achievement could not have been possible without the unwavering support of all of my teachers and parents. This past year, I served on the Student Board of Directors for FIRST Wisconsin as the Director of Project Management. This role has allowed me to gain experiences in advocacy, leadership, and collaboration. I'd like to thank Renee Becker-Blau for her mentorship, and I look forward to staying connected with the program as I transition to university. In addition, a few of my fellow graduates and I were featured on the front cover of the The Journal Times! As my time as a high school student comes to a close, I am happy to have gained leadership skills and education tools which I can use in the next steps of my professional career. I'd like to once again thank all those who have supported me in this phase of my life and continue to do so. I look forward to attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science. On Wisconsin!

📚 JUST RELEASED: Raquel M. Rall, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives, recently published an article along with Demetri L. Morgan. The article focused on the influence of governing boards in higher education. IN SHORT:⭐️ Boards of trustees can do more to support and partner on efforts that lead to the cultivation of equitable student outcomes and opportunities.⭐️ The unique role the board should play in advancing equitable student success must be viewed as part of its well-established responsibilities.⭐️ Without the intentional work of the board, long-lasting, consistent, and comprehensive change cannot be achieved.⭐️ University leadership is an asset for boards and without the support of these stakeholders, boards cannot maximize their role in higher education.Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gSdGZNKm

Academic publishing for me has felt out of reach, intimidating and dare I say elitist BUT...When opportunity gifts you with supportive mentors and guides in the journey, Rob Filback, Ph.D. and Diane Hoppey, and you get to contribute to a case study that may be helpful to future institutions of learning, to future practitioners, to future educational leaders...it is worth venturing into the unknown and evolving my perceptions. #FirstTime #EducatorPrep #InternationalEducation

There is a growing recognition that education systems need to nurture their greatest resource, their educators. Schools have understandably put the focus on students, their learning and well being. It's time to balance the perspective. If we are to attract and retain highly skilled and empathic teachers we have to invest in their wellbeing, both professional and personal. Professional Coaching for teachers should not be a band aid used to 'fix' an issue or perceived inadequacy but rather a gift of time for structured reflection.Reflection that can lead to clarity of purpose, recognition of personal potential, reduced stress and an ability to move forward. There are a plethora of excellent workshops aimed at improving a teachers ability to better serve their students and motivational speakers determined to ignite enthusiasm. Let's add the gift of Coaching to the teacher's toolkit thus respecting and supporting them to shape the future. They are a school's greatest asset.#teachers #ICF #Coaching #peercoaching #stress

As we approach the season of caps, gowns, and the triumphant sounds of Pomp and Circumstance, we must reflect on the profound beauty of graduation as leaders in higher education. I encourage you to view this annual milestone not just as the culmination of your students' academic achievements but as a vibrant testament to the transformative power of education.Graduation is more than a ceremony; it is a powerful manifestation of our institutional missions and the palpable impact of our collective efforts. It represents the beauty of growth, the strength of perseverance, and the boundless potential of our students. This event renews our commitment to educating, inspiring, and empowering the next generation of leaders. In your roles, you have the unique opportunity to make each graduation a moment that resonates deeply with every attendee. Embrace the aesthetics of the ceremony—the regalia, the speeches, the setting—as each element contributes to the grand tapestry of this celebration. However, the true beauty lies in the individual stories of your graduates; each diploma is a unique narrative of challenges overcome, knowledge gained, and dreams just within reach. As leaders, you can enhance this beautiful experience by:Creating Connection: Use graduation to highlight the relationships formed between faculty, staff, and students and the supportive environment fostered by your institution.Emphasizing Impact: Showcase the tangible impacts of your programs through student success stories, reflecting both the academic and personal growth achieved.Planning with Purpose: Each element of the ceremony should be intentional, from the speakers you select to the messages conveyed, ensuring they align with your institution's values and vision. Graduation is not just a ceremony; it can be a transformative experience that inspires your graduates and all those in attendance. It is a chance to broadcast the profound beauty of education and its power to foster change and development. As you guide your institution forward, let the beauty of these moments remind you of why we do what we do and the essential role education plays in shaping a brighter future.
